Charles Rosenblatt is Professor of Physics and Macromolecular Science and holds the Ohio Eminent Scholar endowed chair at Case Western Reserve University.  He has been a Fellow of the American Physical Society since 1996, a Fulbright scholar and professeur invité at Université Pierre et Marie Curie (Université Paris VI, a component of Les Universités Sorbonne), and a Lady Davis Fellow and visiting professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel.  Rosenblatt’s research interests center of “soft condensed matter”, with emphasis on liquid crystals, fluid dynamics, symmetry, and interfaces.  He was a recipient of Case Western Reserve’s inaugural Faculty Distinguished Research Award in 2013 and is a co-inventor of the vertically aligned cholesteric liquid crystal display.  Rosenblatt has served on both the executive and regular boards of the International Liquid Crystal Society, serves on the editorial boards of a number of scientific journals and is the Liquid Crystal section editor for the journal Crystals, and consults actively on both scientific and intellectual property matters.  His research funding has come from the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Department of Energy (DoE), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the U.S. Department of Education, the Petroleum Research Fund, the State of Ohio, the US-Israel Binational Science Foundation, and the French Foreign Ministry.
